Chefs by Nature
Building off of the ever-evolving culinary scene of Nashville, 1 Kitchen introduces a new series designed to celebrate our local farmers, ranchers and growers and the natural abundance of Tennessee — hosted by the world’s most celebrated chefs, who’ll each visit us from across the nation. Our Chefs by Nature will collaborate with our Culinary Director Chris Crary to get inspired by local ingredients and traditional techniques, create featured dishes on our 1 Kitchen menu, teach master cooking classes for guests, host charity dinners in support of the Nashville community, and more.

Culinary Director Chris Crary
Born and raised in the small town of Bucyrus, Ohio, 1 Hotel Nashville’s Culinary Director and Bravo's Top Chef Alum, Chris Crary, became passionate about food at a young age, following time spent with his Tennessean grandmother who had an affinity for Southern comfort food and cooking. In his role as Culinary Director at 1 Hotel Nashville, Crary utilizes that passion while he oversees all of the property’s food & beverage concepts—1 Kitchen, Harriet’s Rooftop Bar, Neighbors Café, and the hotel’s event space, Crossvine. He focuses on creating menus that are collaborative and creative, reflecting a sustainably-driven cuisine that holds ingredients to the highest standard to create simple, healthy dishes that celebrate Nashville’s flavor and heritage.
Chef Dan Churchill
Our Chef's by Nature Series launched April 27 with Author, Podcaster and Executive Chef of The Osprey 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, Dan Churchill. In celebration of Earth Month, guests experienced 1 Kitchen's Earth Month Menu all April long, before Dan joined Culinary Director Chris Crary for a true farm-to-table experience with an off-site multi-course dinner at Green Door Gourmet, a 350 acre farm nestled alongside the Cumberland River.

Chef Nyesha Arrington
Nyesha Joyce Arrington is an acclaimed chef, television personality, and restaurateur. She was a contestant on Bravos' Top Chef season 9 as well as a mentor and judge on FOX's Next Level Chef. Join her at 1 Kitchen as she teams up with Culinary Director Chris Crary for a night of masterful dishes showcasing unique flavors and techniques.
Chef Jake Howell
Growing up in Sandpoint, Idaho, James Beard-nominated chef Jake Howell dreamed of becoming an artist but needed a job to subsidize his painting. Howell moved to Seattle and jumped around kitchens, including Pike Place Market’s famous City Fish. After a few years, Howell had an urge to settle down in a the smaller, calmer city of Nashville. Peninsula opened in East Nashville in 2017 with a menu loosely inspired by the flavors and techniques of the Iberian Peninsula, designed to complement its extensive Spanish wine and sherry list. Join Chef Jake as he teams up with Culinary Director Chris Crary for a one night only exclusive dining experience at 1 Kitchen!
