What was once molten lava, is now several naturally formed caves ready for you to explore. Perhaps the most visible and well-known cave on Kaua'i is the Maniniholo Dry Cave at Ha'ena which is situated at the base of a vertical cliff across from Ha'ena State Park. The dry cave can be explored by foot, but make sure to bring along a flashlight since it tends to get dark as you get deeper into the cave. If you drive further along the coast watch for Waikapalae and Waikanaloa Wet Caves. The wet caves are great for snorkeling and swimming, but we encourage you to check the local weather reports since the water can be dangerous during certain months.
