Total Solar Eclipse = Dark Sky Celebrations In New York + Miami
It’s been nearly 40 years since the last Total Solar Eclipse went coast to coast and while we celebrate the New Moon each month in New York and Miami, you’re invited to celebrate and honor this totally amazing occasion with us on Monday, August 21st. Not a bad way to start the week! When the sun disappears and the sky goes dark…yes, in the middle of the afternoon…it will only last for a short time, moving at solar speed along a path stretching from the Pacific coast in Oregon all the way to South Carolina.
As it moves over 12 states, the epic eclipse will give nearly 12.2. million Americans a serious show in the sky. For the rest of us, we’ll get a partial view as the sky goes slightly dark at some point throughout the day. Bummed you aren’t in an area with a front row seat? Don’t worry. At 1 Hotels we’ll be raising a glass and dimming the lights as part of our Dark Sky program, meant to help educate and raise awareness for global light pollution.
The next Total Solar Eclipse won’t be until April of 2024, and it’s 99 years until one will cross the length of North America again, so get in on our galactic gathering this month:
