At 1 Hotels, we encourage you to put away your wallet, step away from your devices and connect with nature. With the countless local wonders that surround us, there are so many places to see, to discover and to become one with nature.
From Brooklyn to Miami, here are a few day trips we recommend this season:
Brooklyn:
Calling all design lovers – take a trip out of Brooklyn and visit Manitoga, the home and studio of mid-century designer Russel Wright. This 75-acre woodland garden is a national historic landmark, an affiliate site of the national trust for historic preservation and a world monuments watch site. It is one of the few 20th century modern homes open to the public in New York State. Surrounded by lush greenery, tranquil ponds and stunning views, Manitoga is the perfect place to hike, picnic and take in gorgeous wildlife.

Manhattan:
Leave Manhattan behind and head to Bear Mountain for a head-clearing nature fix. Among Bear Mountain’s tranquil, woodsy trails – from the short loop around Brooks Lake to the challenging four-mile segment on the Appalachian trail – there’s a hike for everyone. While you’re on the steep, twisting trail to Perkins Memorial Tower, take in stunning 360-degree views of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, as well as sights of the Big Apple skyline, Storm King Art Center, the Hudson Highlands and the Hudson River.

Miami:
The Florida Everglades, just to the west and south of Miami, is a rare and beautiful place. With its natural heritage, spiritually enriching powers and stunning tropical scenery, the Everglades is perfect for those seeking solitude in nature. Visitors can partake in a number of activities, such as fishing, animal watching and walking around the beautiful grounds. This day trip is wonderful for all ages, so feel free to bring the kids along!
