As an entertainment news editor, I cover all aspects of celebrity living, including the FOMO-inducing vacations that stars get to go on. But why should they have all the fun? When it came time to plan my own warm-weathered getaway, I headed straight to the premier hotel of a destination that A-listers favor most: 1 Hotel South Beach. What did I bring with me to ensure a great time? Read on.
1) MY APPETITE
South Beach has grown into a foodie mecca over the past several years, but I didn’t have to go far to feed my cravings for locally sourced, delectable cuisine. At Beachcraft, a Tom Colicchio restaurant, I sampled several dishes featuring locally caught fish and seafood and a warm blueberry bread pudding I’m still smiling about.
2) MY SNEAKERS
In South Beach, nothing beats an early-morning speed walk before the temperature really rises. If you’re looking for a more intense workout, 1 Hotel South Beach’s Spartan Gym has all the machines and equipment your body will ever need to keep it swimsuit-ready. P.S. – there’s also a SoulCycle. In. The. Building.
3) MY ACHES AND PAINS
Sitting at a desk all day + carrying a heavy bag = one very sore back and set of shoulders. So, when I arrived, I booked an appointment at the Bamford Haybarn Spa A.S.A.P. Not only did my masseur slather me in aromatic, essential oil before going to work on my muscles, she gave me some great tips for avoiding future tension.
4) EXTRA ROOM IN MY SUITCASE
Did someone say shopping? Post-beach or pool is the perfect time to take a stroll along Lincoln Road, which is lined with both local boutiques and major retailers like Zara and Victoria’s Secret. To step up your fashion game, head to Big Drop inside 1 Hotel South Beach, which is stocked with glammed-out clothing and accessories guaranteed to make you look like a Miami local.
5) MY WINGWOMAN
Fun fact: South Beach is swarming with singles. A fashion editor/friend of mine actually met her husband here while on vacation with a gal pal. So, grab a buddy, get dolled up and head down to Tom on Collins in the 1 Hotel South Beach lobby or the bar at STK. You never know who you might meet!
